Gale Center - South Jordan, UT
I volunteer for the center...
Sept. 27 - the center is now open - complete with additional lighting, displays, and a diorama in the mining display (pending)... Indian tepee and buffalo robe plus Indian artifacts; be a "farmer" - milk the cows, go fishing, cook dinner; visit a country store with "lockers for frozen food" if homes didn't have electricity; one-room schoolhouse....
Update - Sept. 27 Went to our monthly docent meeting today. One of our docents told us about one of the displays - The H and E Country Store which is set up with counters, cash registers from original stores, frozen food lockers... Her parents ran the store in the 30s, and she called it "Hurry up and eat" because they ate lunch in their kitchen attached to the store. If anyone came in, they had to hurry and eat.
Tour the museum Tues - Friday 10am - 6pm and Sat. - 10am - 2 pm.
