About Me

My photo
Diane
I am enjoying life as a retiree - traveling when I can and pursuing my dreams. Motto - "Live your Dreams". I enjoy meeting people and expanding my "circle of friends". Joined the "Red Hats - Yayas" and a writing group - Therascribes/Writing Moves - online. I like to go to the theater, concerts; go to dinner with friends, etc. Just "socializing" and having a good conversation.... Lifelong Learning and Travel are two of my favorite things, learning and travel in one -Elderhostel, now Exploritas, now Roads Scholars. University of Utah has Lifelong learning too. Belong to the Osher LL program and take 4 tours per semester i.e. Ft. Douglas, Mrs. Fields Cookies, Farmers' Market + movie Fresh.... I am a docent at the Gale Center of History and Culture in South Jordan. Lived in the suburbs of SLC for 28 years. Sept - Mentor for the SLCC Writing Center -Mature writers - started Jan. 19, 2011. My "I Believe" essay was broadcast on KUER - U of U. "You Are Never Too Old To Learn." Reunions magazine published the food and games portion of "On the Road Again." "Sine Cera published the Waterhole."

Fourth Year of Retirement and Going Strong...

I read an article on BoomersPlaces.com about the Road of Life and posted it on my website. It is indictative of my journey through life. There are different roads, do you take "The Road Less Traveled," as Poet Robert Frost says?

"In today’s world we are now looking at our maps again as we go into our retirement years. Retirement may mean that we continue working or make a job change. Some will be heading to small towns to start a small business.. Others may be leaving the small town to join their grown children in city living. Those that are single may be considering dating again or finding new social activities at senior centers, churches and in over 55 communities...... "

I became a Mentor for the Diverse City Senior Writers at the local Community College; each year they publish a collection of writers' essays. This year it is called, "Devoid of Sharp Edges" and I submitted "The Waterhole" which was a prior writing assignment after watching live feed from Africa on Africam.com....
